Right now, the water temp is hanging between 48 and 49. I took water temp. wednesday. The high water doesn't seem to be hurting the fishing. Check my post.

We're getting ready to make our annual crappie trip down to Ky Lake in a few weeks. I've been checking water temps and levels over the past few days and notice that Ky lake is very high, over summer pool. I don't recall water being this high at this time of year. When we are down there during the first week of April the water is normally still rising from winter pool to summer pool. What's up with this and how will it effect crappie bite? Thanks.

Well I think they are gonna open some gates at Ky & Barkley today or tomorrow. Gonna start drawing the lakes down. Gonna take awhile to get them back where TVA wants them. This should create some current in the lake and the crappie will pull back out of the shallows (where the blacks are now) but still stay in or close to the bays to stay out of the current.

Generally...my toughest time to catch fish on the river is when they are sucking the bottom out of it. Hope they get it cleared up by next Friday for sure.
P.S. More rain coming.
