Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a spool control nut for a Langley ReelCast Model 500? Just found this old reel that belonged to my grandfather while cleaning the basement (yes, I'm waiting for this weather to break. Soon I hope!!). Very special significance to me since it was the reel he used when he took me out fishing when I was just seven years old over 51 years ago. I've thought about getting on EBAY and buying one if they have one for auction, but I thought someone might know of a source other than that? Hope everybody has a lot of luck this spring!!!

you may be better off going on eBay and buying one. I checked, and there's several out there. You could put Gramp's reel back into service, by scalping parts off the eBay reels ... or put it on display, and just use the eBay bought ones.
I was under the impression that an old Langley was a antique, and worth some money ... but, after seeing them on eBay for less than $10 and in good & working condition, I was shocked :p
If I'm not mistaken, that very reel .. or one very similar to it .. was one of the first reels I ever used, too. Black nylon line on the spooland still caught fish :D

Thanks for the help guys!! That's basically what I was thinking about going ahead and trying to buy one on the "cheap" and scavenging parts off it. Didn't know if anyone had some old parts laying around though that I would be glad to pay for. I too was under the impression it might be worth some money, but the prices didn't seem to back that assumption.
