    Arrow 2008 Fishing Forecast

    http://fw.ky.gov/08fishforecast.asp?...h=C101C110C590

And this from the Forecast Introduction page:

Slab crappie are ready to be caught, beginning in late winter, at most reservoirs in central and western Kentucky. Catches of crappie over 12 inches are not uncommon at Barkley and Kentucky lakes during this time. Recent research has shown crappie moving to shallow water well before the spawning season in early March, so start early for these fish. Other good bets include Herrington, Nolin, Buckhorn and Yatesville lakes.

    Thumbs up Thanks, Bleu ....

I really hope the forecasts are understated, for those lakes I fish. I see way too many "fair" predictions, or "small size" notations. Hopefully we can prove some of these "predictions" to be wrong and get into some decent sized fish.

That is interesting to see, I'm like you CP I hope to prove them wrong. I know Barren has been down for a while, they are still listing it as fair. I wonder with the water level's staying so low last year how it's effected the spawn. Hopefully I can find out soon. Finally got all the fixes made to my boat and am ready to hit the water as soon as this weather breaks.

Good luck to you guys! I was interested in the Green River Lake report. My experience last year showed a large number of 8-9 inch fish. A couple of times we caught huge numbers only to throw back all but a few, although my wife enjoyed the trips she got to go on even though we only kept 20 - 25 each time. I can't complain as I am still eating those 2007 fish!!

Glad to see Rough River is looking better. I stayed away last year because of the low water levels I kept hearing about. Anyone heard if the levels will be up because I believe they were also doing some repairs and kept the water level down in recent years.

For the past couple of years I haven't been catching many little ones
at Taylorsville, I'm worried the past couple of spawns were low.

Hopefully the Cave Run forecast will lean more to the good rather than fair. I'm sort of concerned over the statement that crappie numbers are currently in decline at the Cave but based upon my experience that may well be true.
