ifish, the limit reduction on Kentucky Lake was introduced and approved recently. This months Kentucky Afield magazine has an update on all the new fishing regulations for 2008.

It states, "One of the most significant changes for spring anglers is the reduction of the daily creel limit for crappie from 30 to 20 in Barkley and Kentucky Lakes. Kentucky lake had poor crappie crappie spawns in 2005, 2006. Anglers reported catching fewer crappie above the minimum 10" size limit, prompting concerns about potential overharvest of crappie. Fisheries decided to lower the limit for both lakes since a canal links both waters."

I'm just wondering how long it will be before Tennessee goes along with the regulation, and if there will ever be a day it increases back to 30.

It was voted in late last year. There is a post somewhere on this board about it. The 20 fish limit kicks in when you current fishing lic. runs out. As of Mar. 1 2008 The limit on Ky. & Barkley is 20- 10" fish. I have also been told by my buddy (game warden) that it will be strickly enforced. I personally don't believe it will do a darn thing to help the population.

Thanks Mr. Whiskers & Badbrad. I have been surveyed by Rory of Mayfield ( creel survey guy) many times and his comments about the population have been helpful . I hope the population can endure the pressure for the next generation of anglers because I have been blessed with years of good fishing. If it wasn't for the crappie I wouldn't be there so I don't like the new limits but if it helps the population so be it !! Rory told me his survey has revealed that 10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish. HUM !! My jigs are poured and the tanks are full so lets get it on . ><)))))*>
