    Default Giving up Tree Therapy

Each year I ask myself why I continue to bowhunt for deer when I should be crappie fishing. Each year I say, I'm going to give it up and just fish. Well I've spent the last two days in a tree.....seen lots of deer but they are all still running around in the woods. I did manage to get a doe with my bow earlier in the season so now I'm just hunting for a buck. A Buddy of mine comes down each year for the gun opener. But I'm declaring right now that my hunting season will be over this weekend, deer or no deer. I'm itching to crappie fish!!! anybody catching any on Barren or Kentucky?

    Default a wonderful question

Some years ago, I made the move from ducks to deer primarily. I have not missed a duck season since 1974, but it sure is a lot of trouble and I tear up a lot of equipment for a few ducks. I still like to duck hunt, but it is not a priority.

I never thought anything would replace bowhunting. It was my passion, but . . . . wow I would rather catch those big Reelfoot slabs. My #1 hunting buddy is in a fit of depression b/c he doesn't have anyone to hunt with. I shot a pretty good buck (138") with my bow a couple of weeks ago. My wife is excited about gun season and I made the executive decision this morning to go fishing on the opener of gun season.

Well I'd say Saturday would be a good day to fish and you'd probably have most the lake to yourself. Good luck fishing.....I'll be on the water soon!
