Good morning all,
I'm less than a week away from relocating to Florence from Missouri. It's getting to be that time of year, and I'm hoping someone can direct me to some decent crappie fishing in Northern Kentucky. I'm not looking for tips, tricks, spots, etc....just a couple of bodies of water that hold some fish. Any help will be greatly appreciated!![]()

Try Williamstown Lake, 400 acres, lots of small fish but occasionally you can get some nice ones there. About 20 minutes south of Florence. Brookville Lake in Indiana, 5500 acres, good crappie lake about an hour away from Florence. Ohio River feeder creeks, Big Bone State Park ramp. 15 minutes away, go out SR 42 and follow signs.

Welcome to Ky. KC Bassky/Crappie 52? What is the name of the marina above Markland Dam? Something Creek? It is supposed to hold some large crappie.

Unfortunately, the Cincy/Louisville/Morehead triangle of Northern Ky does not have much in the way of large bodies of water. Most all are small lakes, rivers, or creeks. (not counting the Ohio River, of course)Originally Posted by KC BeachBum
To stay in the state of KY and fish a larger body of water, requires a trip South ... of about 1.5-2hrs road time. That would put you in range of Guist Creek Lake, Taylorsville Lake, and Cave Run Lake.
If you are not yet very familiar with the state and it's bodies of water, I have a few suggestions :
purchase a Delorme "KY Atlas & Gazetteer" (or get real familiar with MapQuest :p )
contact the KDFWR - and request their free booklets about fishing related topics (ramp access, small water bodies, Ky Fish ID booklet, Boating/Fishing Rules/Regs, etc)

Check these lakes : http://fw.ky.gov/waterbody.aspx
Look thru this website : http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/
Check out this website, and click on the state of Ky for local articles : http://www.gameandfishmag.com/
Look for a booklet of maps of multiple small lakes of this state ... can usually be found at Wal-Marts or local tackle shops.
Welcome to Crappie.com !! And welcome to the great state of KY !!

That would be Craigs Creek right off of SR 42. There is a public ramp right there too. Excellent bass creek too. I have a friend that fishes the Meldahl pool and does very well in the first 3-4 Ohio Creeks above the dam. He caught 26 keepers last week, went the next day and caught 37, all of these fish were between 10-16". Caught on minnows w/float. I have done well in these creeks too, last year. Haven't been this year, yet. There is good crappie fishing in the creeks in spring and fall. Laydowns and boat docks are the key, plus sunken brush, if you know where they are.Originally Posted by Downwind

there's a little place off 71 in Henry Co. called Lake Jericho. I think $2 launch fee and no wake speed only, but I've been told that the fishing's not to bad there.

Head down into the valley and drive up highway 8 or Ohio 52 and fish in the Meldahl pool. There are crappie in those river feeder creeks.
Come on over to Ohio and fish East Fork lake. It's a pretty nice lake before the summer crowd over runs it but in the cooler weather it's okay. Lake has lots of fish but you have to find them. For the bigger fish, hit those river creeks. Oh yeah, welcome to the area.
