Me thinks you are hitting it OK. I intend to fish this weekend for the first time this fall. Water temps are coming down and water levels are good for fall fishing. It is still a little early for the good bite but you know how it is, have to go anyway.

I went back to the little honey hole on the drop off again the other day. Man was it hot! The fish were still there but I soon got bored with the small fish. Decided to do some exploring. The lake was rising a little so I went further backin the bay to see what I could find. I found 2 goooood brush piles. 1 on a flat in about 12, of water & the other in 15'.
BAMMMM! The fish were there! The quality was better too. Suprised me though. They were only about maybe 5' deep over the cover. Don't get me wrong there were some dinks, but there were also some 3/4# fish in there.
You could walk across the flat on the shad! Everywhere you looked there were balls and balls of shad.
I think this cooler weather will have them even shallower if they don't start draining the lakes.
Purple & Chartruse 1 & 1/2" tubes on a 3/32oz head has been hard to beat.
I went again yesterday on Ky & could only muster 1 keeper until right at the end of the day. I decided to check some stuff in about 9' of water further back in the bay. Wouldn't you know it... I caught 3 keepers in about 2 minutes & had a good one wrap me around a limb & break me off. I got in there on the top & spooked'um out so I decided to load up & get'um next time. :D
Oh yes got to go. A bad day on the water is much better than a good day at work. I like the fall down there much better than the spring. Don't get as many fish in the fall but seem to average bigger fish. Last fall wife caught one crappie 2&3/4 lb. We had several around that 1-2 lb range. Lots less people on the lake too.Quote:

The Honey Hole on Barkley? I may have to ry that area before the fall is over but my trip this weekend will be to my buckets so I can tell if they survived the Jet Ski season.

Thanks,

Rock Castle is gonna be up river from Buzzard rock several miles. Buzzard rock is on the other side of the prison a few miles near Kattawa. Not a real long drive though. Little River's just right up the river a minute or two from Rock castle.Quote:
