Hey Arca ...
I happened to venture into the local tackle store, yesterday (Backwaters Outfitters) .... and was told that a local jigmaker had recently taken some limits, or near limits, of good sized Crappie, from T-ville. Seems he found some large brushpiles, that he didn't know about before, and circled them with the boat over and over again ... taking one or two fish per trip around the pile. I'd venture to guess that he was also in deep water, and very likely on the main lake. Sorry, but my info source did not know location or depth, but the claims are from a reputable gentleman. It was mentioned that, the fish that were caught, didn't come from "within" the brushpile ... but rather just around the outskirt edges of it.
With the water temps back up to the mid to high 70's ... daytime highs staying in the 80's ... and no cool Fall rains to speak of --- the Crappie are probably still in their Summer pattern.
Thanks for the reports !! If I hear/learn any more ... I'll post it for you, and all the other T-ville angling members.
Oh yeah, before I forget ... the jigmaker, if he's the one I'm thinking of, uses his own hand-tied jigs for T-ville Crappie --- and he tightlines one or two poles with jigs, while casting a jig, and moves the boat VERY slowly with the trolling motor.
