I hadn’t been on Barkley this year and needed to check out some spots for client trips coming up.

I checked with Jere (crp4570) and Rickie (rnvinc) if they wanted to tag along. They did.

We hit several spots with cranks. Every spot we fished we caught at least a few. Some spots were better.

We worked our way farther away from our launch. When it came time to head back, I found out that $100 worth of non-ethanol fuel contained water. I tried not to show my worry as Rickie took off the fuel filter cartridge and drained the water from it. The big Suzuki finally sputtered back to life and I planed the boat off, hoping my luck would continue. I got most of the several miles back to the ramp when I finally went to full throttle. It ran like it was supposed to.

In the end, we had a box full of nice pre-spawn crappie and a day full of laughs and memories. Maybe it won’t be so long before we can put Covid behind us and back to normal.

BTW, I ordered a filter housing with a clear bottom and drain. It doesn’t take very much water to mess up a great day or a Suzuki 250SS. Name: IMG_3446.jpg
