I personally feel that it's a huge conspiracy, and if we type in really brightly colored large point font on this board the kdfw will hear us!

I gotta say I agree with Whiskers (even though you cursed my trip in March with cold snap! ) I drove 6 hours and will do so again. I would love to be able to get into 20 a day on a 4 day trip!!! 10 a day would be great. To me, it's not about the number you take home, it's about the experience. When the fish are gone, there will be nothing left to experience!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

    Cool Which model?

    The Humminbird 997c SI Combo.

It not only locates 'em, it lures them over to your boat, hypnotizes them and makes them swim to the surface around your boat so's you can stick a tube jig in their mouth and snatch'em up, nice and legal like. Then when it's electric eye (which is placed in the live well) notes twenty different fish, (by the distinct pattern of scales, which are as individualized as DNA to a human), it turns off the luring beam and the remaining fish become unhypnotized and return to their normal patterns of ignoring any offering you may present to them.

The Humminbird 997c SI Combo also recognizes the different footfalls of each individual on board and resets the electric eye in the livewell to accommodate every anglers limit. It also records the fingerprints of each individual so should one person try to put more than their one legal limit in the live well, it will immediately regurgitate said fish from the livewell with enough force to send it well overboard thusly safeguarding the laws of limits imposed by the sanctioning bodies of government that safeguard our fish and wildlife.

And now you know which model!

I hate the new limits, because TN who does absolutey nothing to help crappie fisherman, will follow KY.
Crappie fishing has changed over the last 20 years. When I was a teenager wew used to go wading and catch fish in May in the bushes. Now the fish are spawing a month or so earlier, beacuse of the warmer weather. Also there are no bushes anymore and besides that, the water is not up to summer pool when the fish are spawing. the spawn is over by the time the water gets up. 7 or 8 years ago, if my partner and I caught 20 fish between us we had a decent day and that was from daylight until dark. We began to put out matts in different areas, different depths, etc. Today if we do not catch 30 in a 1/2 day it is a bad day. From Oct thru the end of April in 04-05 we brought home over 1100 crappie. 05-06 same time frame over 4,100 brought home, and 06-07 over 2700. We do not catch fish in less than 4 ft of water. You get out of fishing what you put in it, just like any thing else.
I have been wondering what the guides are thinking. They can still take people out, charge the same amount and spend less time on the water catching 20 instead of 30. That usually means two different clients a day.
Ask a guide and see what the have averaged over the last few years. i bet it is over 25 a day, easy.
