Kentucky isn’t really my home lake, anyone that has taken a multi day fishing trip on KY lake yearly has spent more time on KY than I have in the last 5-7 years before this past fall. I like the dirty water on Barkley. I did have waypoints and beds I had put out from several years ago in some areas but have also made trips to areas starting completely blank and done well. Bottom line is I believe Kentucky has fished well over the past 9 months and is trending in the right direction.
Can’t speak to Little River other than I know a pretty nice tournament bag of crappie came out of there a few weeks ago. I did put in at a different bay in that general vicinity for couple hours one afternoon before the ice storm came in February and caught a bunch of healthy crappie that were what I would call line burners, all 9.5-10.5”. Like Adam mentioned in about the redear, these crappie were heavily concentrated in a small area of the bay. Have made several trips to this bay even though it’s a long drive for me and this spot always holds fish but never seen a “local” or any other boat in the spot. Like I mentioned before though, Barkley is off a little from a few years back. I have seen it some in my preferred areas and got a message last week from another experienced friend that had three boats of experienced fisherman that only had 9 keepers all day. But some areas are holding decent numbers of fish. And it’s not just tournament fishing guys with Livescope like me catching fish in these areas. I know of one pretty new crappie fisherman that has done well long lining catching quite a few crappie along with white bass, gills, redear, etc.
I am not going to argue with you guys or comment anymore in this thread, just get tired of seeing people run down the lakes. Like I mentioned in my first post, I wasn’t and am not poking at anyone’s ability to catch fish. Just pointing out that I have spent a lot of time in several areas of both lakes and there is still some pretty fine fishing on both lakes. A lot of us have or have had concerns about the lakes in recent years but overall I think they are headed back the right way. The next month or two will be telling though, we need good bait spawns like last year.
