crappiepappyThanks for the report.
I am sure removing the size will help unless it's just gets totally fished out.

are you referring to the Crappie, or Bass ?? I think he was catching the Crappie in the creek channel, back by the bridge. Haven't the foggiest idea where he Bass fishes.Originally Posted by crappie bug
All the Crappie I've been catching have come from close to the bank, under log jams, and around stake buckets ... but, they've all been dinks.

Thanks crappiepappy I was referring to the crappie all I've caught from there was dinks but have caught some nice redear and gills from there.
Any Information on Pan fishing recently? I have a Friend coming for a visit and we would just like action. We have no intention on cleaning anything.
Thanks
Last time I went (couple of weeks ago), my partner and I caught a few dink Crappie. His son has been going down there, now and again, but mostly Bass fishing. I think he & his friend take minnows, too, and just use them to entertain themselves (with the Crappie) if the Bass aren't cooperating. He says he's been catching "keeper" sized Crappie ... on channel drops with stumps, in about 10-12ft of water.Originally Posted by Biggerbear
I've heard reports about decent Bluegill & Shellcracker being caught ... out in the deeper water (>10ft). The shallows are "owned" by the small Bass, Crappie, & panfish ... so I'd recommend not fishing close to the bank. Here's that report, but since it's put out by the local bait shop, take it with a grain of salt : http://www.fishin.com/reports/ky/ky-1/cedarcreek.htm
If you don't already have one, get a map that shows where all the planted attractors are, and the structures that were left when the lake was formed.
Here's the best "free" map I know of :

click on it to blow it up big enough to see - then print it out, if you can.
Windy or cloudy days seem to be better days to fish CCL. The biggest problem I have with the lake, is that "everywhere" looks like a good place :D but they're not ... LOL!!
My partner and I have not resorted to live bait, yet :p ... we still manage to catch a few of the 5-7" Crappie on jigs. Mostly we are using 1/16oz weedless jigheads and tubes (hollow and solid) ... and my partner has even used the tiny plastic "craws" with success. Roadrunners have also been a good producer, especially on windy/cloudy days (around the outside of standing tree lines, and over submerged weedbeds).

crappiepappy - thanks again for the Info.
I know summer is tough fishing, but when company comes I need to find something to do other than watch court shows.
If we go I will post back with our success or lack of. LOL
