Caught a few trolling Jenko cranks on Barkley Thursday. They were definitely scattered. They were suspended at about 10 ft deep in 20 ft of water. I tried up on flats, along channels, etc. but most of the ones I caught were basically out in the middle of the bay. I stayed in the same bay all day, in the morning I caught fish mainly near the mouth of the bay, but as the day went on (and the water started to warm up) I started catching more back in the bay but still over deeper water (20'+). The water temp was 63 degrees around 9 am and warmed to 72 degrees by 6 pm.
Biggest crappie was a 1 lb 15 oz, not sure how much the blue cat weighed but she did a good job wrapping up all my lines, ha! All the crappie I caught had eggs, except for the small 10.5"; the blood vessels around the eggs were a very dark red, so I guess they are still planning to spawn.
I did try an old reliable redear spot for about 10 minutes, no luck. It usually gets good when the water temp hits 74 more consistently, which should be very soon.
