I started fishing Herrington back in my pre-teen years, mostly Crappie fishing but occasionally for the White Bass spawning run & Summer "jumps". I added Bass fishing there in my late teens, and still fish it for Bass about once or twice a year. I have fished it in Bass tournaments (early 1970's) when I was a member of the ABF. It's not the same "Bass" lake as it once was, decades ago.

But, the Bass fishing & tournament anglers are not exclusive to Herrington ... they're prominent at most all lakes in the state.

I used to fish it for Bluegill/Sunfish back as a youngster (w/Grandparents) in July/August, using crickets or horseweed worms (stalk borer grubs). I've probably posted several times about using horseweed worms, but the pics/links are gone (as evidenced in this 2004 thread : https://www.crappie.com/crappie/main...appy-question/ )
But a Google search for "horseweed worms" will supply you with plenty of pics and sites that talk about using them.
