    Default KY HydroGrag Sidescan?????????

I found a web site yesterday that sells computer disc that show side imagining of Ky & Barkley Lakes. Has anyone used it or heard anything about it. Some of the pictures were unbelievable that they show for examples. You could see stumps, brushpiles and other structure. It cost around $30 for sections like Blood River is a scetion and Johnathon Creek is a section. Before spending the money I wanted some opinions if anyone has used these disc before.
"You should have been here yesterday!!!

The owner of Kentucky Hydrografx (http://www.kentuckyhydrografx.com/) is Pat Hahs. Pat is a friend of mine. He is also a biologist for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife in Murray, KY. He knows his business. I guide and he has worked with me providing me his programs in exchange for information and promotion of his products since the mid 90's when he first started remapping the lake using various sonar methods. A few years ago he spent major bucks for his sidescan unit. It was the best money he has spent. The ability of side scan is truly amazing. It takes a little time working with the disks to understand what you are looking at. An underwater camera can help confirm what you see on the sidescan and what is actually there. Also using the zoom function on Ozi Explorer helps a bunch. I have found the 150% to 200% zoom a great range. It allows seeing smaller stake beds and brush piles that could be easily missed at normal ranges.

Pat told me a few years ago to check out the new Humminbird side scan. He did some consulting with them on the unit. I have since gotten onto their guide and tournament VIP program. I run the 987 SI Combo and will soon upgrade to the new 997. I'm not saying all this because Pat has helped me out. He is truly a great guy that backs his products. If you have problems understanding the images or the program he provides called Ozi Explorer that helps you mark your waypoints over the structure he is a phone call or email away. I actually used his program to help me and my partner win the 2006 Crappie USA tournament. We had our hot spots too but his disks were a big plus giving us additional structure to fish! I know several guides who also use his programs to aid in their fishing ability.

He also offers navigational charts that he has scanned into disks. You can use them and Ozi Explorer to set routes up and down and across the lake following marker channels. They have got me back home before in the fog and after dark before without fail. Next to the sidescan disks they are my next most used. Even though I have covered the lakes from end to end for years I still feel safer with his technology. He has most big bays side scanned and he is working on the northwest Kentucky bays like Sledd Creek, Big bear, etc. I am on the waiting list. I guess you can tell I highly recommend Pat's programs.

I agree DTG. Most guys I know that use the programs regularly are also active at placing cover in the lakes. Thanks to seeing the benefits of cover with side scan some guys have even got more active at placing cover and have developed new ideas for bed construction.

I received my maps from Pat a couple of weeks ago. I can vouch for him, he is a stand up guy. My maps were lost in the mail and he overnighted me a new set so that I could get to using them.

The maps are great and you find more than just cover people have placed...you will find every bump, stump and roadside ditch that was there before the lake was filled.

    Great product,
    The CH...
