You need to just throw past tactics and patterns out the window and start fresh with a new approach. I'm a long-time bass fisherman, and I've found in the past two years that in summer, trolling has produced far more consistent catches of bass than pulling up on a specific spot on a ledge and trying to pull several bass from a school that no longer hangs out there.
You know I was being sarcastic about the high water and carp? There are actually folks who think every fish in KY Lake will be sucked thru the dam and replaced by fish sucked thru Pickwick Dam. I kid you not!
