I do have a serious question,, if the whites havent spawned yet, is it too late? will the eggs just dry up and no spawn? did the blacks complet their spawn? or just about half of them??? how will this affect fishing for the rest of the year and how will it affect fishing next few years,,
I went yesterday johnny and manage 19 good, and I mean good fish! They were mostly Whites with 2 big Black Females mixed in. All of the fish I caught were in 12' to 15' of water about 8' to 10' deep. Couldn't catch but 1 keeper after 1 pm. Only thing I could get them to hit was a 3/32 chartruse head with a purple & chartruse tube. The guy that wrote the artical in the Paducah sun about there not being any small crappie for the coming years needs to go fish'n with me! I bet I caught 50 that were 6" to 9 1/2" fish. I could have caught more but that's not my thing. I'm after the big'ns. I believe that the next week to two weeks will tell the tail. I believe the Whites will move up quickly as the water warms. Certainly this year's spawn hasn't been Ideal but I look at it this way; for every real bad day that limits the fishermen it is a positive for the fish. Lord knows we had some bad days for the fishermen. I have noticed one thing this year and ally my fish'n buddies are saying the same thing. Last year we caught mostly Black Crappie. This year I have caught mostly Whites. I think with the early warming water temps that the Blacks slipped by me this year. Good news for them! :D
