At the American Crappie Trail tournament this past Saturday on Guntersville Lake, AL, the winning weight, as I understand it, was 31.61, which is an awesome weight by anyone's standards. I heard from some friends in Alabama, that the winning team caught those fish one-poling with jigs. But..... they were using the new Garmen Panoptics Livescope technology. Now, don't get me wrong. I am not writing this to complain. First of all, I wasn't there and so I don't really know what the team was using. Secondly, the technology is there and thus they have the right to use it. My boat is loaded with technology and if given the chance, and I could afford it, I would certainly add Livescope to my equipment. I've gone online and watched enough videos about livescope to know that it is absolutely amazing technology. I know that there are some folks who are concerned that this technology is going to seriously affect tournament fishing. Of course, the same fear was raised when DI and SI began to be used, not to mention 360 imaging. Honestly, I don't know what effect Livescope will have on the tournament, though it appears to have been a great help this past weekend. But...for the regular fisherman, it looks to be interesting technology indeed. In order to purchase Livescope, I'll have to sell some of my other fishfinding equipment.....which I may do. Of course, by the time I get to where I can purchase this new tech, it will no longer be new. Something else will, no doubt, have come on the scene far bigger and better! And I'll end up wanting that, too!!! Funny thing is, I can remember when I crappie fished with NO technology on the boat cause there was none. I think I caught just as many fish then as I do now! lol
