Good job curhunter, I haven't been to Barren in a few weeks. Been hitting the big pond west of here. I may have to try it this weekend. I know the lake is still down really low, how deep were you finding them?

Caught a limit today. Has been a long time since I had done that. Most were 10-11 Had one over 14 and several over 12. I saw another guy at the ramp that had as many as I did.

That is strange, I would have never thought to try that. You reckon the lake will ever get any water in it?
fient back today. I caught 12 over the same tree top I fished Wed. they were deeper and were not hitting as well. I left about the timeit started clouding up. I would say the bite picked u late in the day.
I would go tomorrow but would probably get into a fight with all he freaks that will be out on the weekend. I had a couple of guys slip right in front of me as I was baiting up. They got told real quick I didn't appreciate it at all. MORONS! I'll end up knuckle dusting someone if I go on the weekend.
Spring break is next week so I will have my fishing buddy. My 11 year old daughter. She will lay with them all day if I will let her.

Man that will be great fishing with your daughter, Sure hope the crappie cooperate for you. I was planning on trying the lake this weekend myself but just found out they have two big bass tournaments this weekend. They have over 120 boats registered for a Renegade tournament on Sunday. Can you imagine how crazy it will be on the water then?! Think I'll just try to slip out later next week. Good luck to you.
I hate bass tournaments. There are way too many on Barren..
Maybe I'll see you on the lake. I have a little jon boat with a old 6hp johnson that is painted black. I drive a 91 mazda pick up that is blue.
I usually try and spend a lot of time with my kids on spring break. I just take em and keep em fishin by baiting, tying, getting tangles out and I do a little duckng at times....
Sounds good buddy....I've put out quite a bit of structure on Barren if the water get's up to cover it. I'd be happy to put you on a spot or two. Save some for me though....looks like it might be a little bit before I can get back on the water.
As for the Bass tournaments I'd have to agree with you. I've got a good friend who does the creel surveys on Barren. He called me today and said that he'd only run 1/3 of the lake and already counted 170 fisherman. Said there were boats on top of boats. Guess they are having a big Renegade tournment. Looks like they'd wait and have that in June after the water was up good.
I just got back from mushroom hunting and there isn't a blowdown or crappie hide on the lake without a boat sitting on it.
Who does the creel survey now? Used to be an older gentleman that was a pleasure to talk to. What is he saying about the crappie numbers?
James "Jim" Taylor....retired Game Warden from Warren County has the job. He just started it on Monday. I keep my boat in his pole barn and he has been calling me each day giving me reports. Said he saw some pretty good crappie being caught earlier in the lake. Bet it was rough out there today.
