With the forecast lookin better (Sorry Wiskers) even a temperature drop of 10 degrees or so shouldn't disrupt too much. For anyone that will be in the Moors Resort area the 4th thru the 8th, sure would like to meet any of you from the boards here. Everyone seems to be real sportsmen and willing to help others enjoy the sport we all love. It'll be me and my 17 year old son coming down from Central Illinois. It'd be nice to meet someone to share a beer and fishin lies with after a day on the water!!!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

OK, thanks much. What a great board!

So as a schooled bass fisherman, what tactics should we be using. Bobber and minnow in a foot of water? Jigs? Little spinner baits? All of the above

well it looks like I might actually hit the timing right for a change ( missed it last year) we are heading down friday after work, should be out 1st thing sat morning, probably stay close to the cabin ( 1 cove north of shawnee bay) we have some friends comming down and his wife is nuts about fishing, so looks like a fun weekend, and maybe a fish fry is in the makings for saturday nite,, i also heard the redears are starting to hit,,,mmmmmm good,,,
question,,,, how many folks release the females if they catch them full of eggs? 3 weeks ago me and my wife released 2 females with eggs.... just courious ....
this is a great board,, tons of info for us newbe crappie fishermen,,,

Thanks for the replies. I'll post on Sunday night how it went. Given the reports I'll feel like a major failure if we don't load the boat up.

Ok, I feel like a major failure. We caught more drum than crappie. No smallmouth, just a few largemouth, two of the largest pickerel I have ever seen, and a 12 pound silver carp (snagged). I know there have to be fish in the lake. All of those boats in Johnathan Creek were there for a reason. Did the fish just turn off, or was it us?
