    Default Local Lakes

Talked to a buddy of mine who is working for the State doing Creel surveys on Barren. He started today. The lake is still really low as you'd expect since we have not had any rain. He told me that several good Crappie were being caught, suprisingly most were still deep. Bass and some hybrid action was good on rattle traps. I don't want to see anything torrential, but it would be nice to get some steady rain to get these lake levels up. I've seen mention of a cold front for next week, just don't know how drastic it will be. We've been spoiled with all this 80 degree weather.

I would like to see some rain myself. Last year Nolin didn't get to summer pool until Memorial Day. My dad is at Nolin and is catching some crappie. He had 18 keepers on Tue. and his limit today, and he said he is catching a lot of short fish this spring. He is catching them shallow on minnows.
