    Default Green River 3/23

Went out for about 12 hours Friday on the Robinson end without much luck. Caught about 20 dinks in various areas. I think the crappie are about to come up shallow. Caught some fish in 4-5' deep water in structure, others about 10' deep in 14-16' of water - holding just outside of creek mouths. Did a lot looking around for structure to hit when the water returns to summer pool. I've got 14 stake beds, 10 trees, and 3 submerged humps stored in my head, ready for summer pool and shallow fish.

Water temps were around 53-55 that morning, and had risen to 55-60 by that evening. 60's were in shallower creek arms.

My Dad went out on the river end yesterday 3/24 and had similar luck. About 20 dinks plus one 12"er.

All crappie caught were whites. I thought the blacks came up first?

So, some of you with more experience chasing crappie than me, does this look like the spawn is going to be bit early? The fish finder shows tons of fish stacked up just outside the creek mouths in open water, but nothing would bite.

Had about the same luck as you did, only we went on Thur. Put in at Arnolds landing and fished Casey creek and up the river. We trolled and casted jigs, but didn't have much luck. I did a whole lot better last year than what I've started out doing so far this spring. So far mostly dinks with very few keepers.
