Thread: What Line For Crappies?

I like fireline, about 6lb. test. Ky. Lake northeast visibility is about 4'. Good luck.

try Mister Crappie from BPS, monkscrappie.com, or from grizzlyjigs.com. Other places may sell it, but for the $ it's the best co-polymar out there. lol

I've got 4lb Fireline Clear. Going to try the Vanish brand in April.

I have tried about everything including Fireline and I keep coming back to BPS Mr. Crappie. It has great properties, good in cold weather, virutally invisible under water and is cheap. You can replace the line often to keep fresh on the spool. 6lb test runs $6.99 for 1980 yards. As good a deal as there is. I am thinking about trying Fireline Crystal due to its invisibility. According to Berkley's own studies their colored Fireline, although tough and thin is one of the most visible underwater. That can hurt in clear water so the new stuff may be better. But they are proud of it, almost $100 for 1100 yards.

6lbs silver thread is a good one to use for jigging and cast!

I've been using 6lb. test Excel from Bass Pro Shops, but have heard Mr. Crappie is hard to beat as far as price versus performance. Intend to try it myself when I run out of the Excel.

I agree with Newlight2. I been using Excel for a long time now. In the next week I will pick up a spool of Mr Crappie.
