    Default Windy Weekend on KY

Fished the last two days on Kentucky Lake and I am worn out and windburnt. Strong easterly winds tested my gear and my patience. I'm definitely going to switch to gold cart batteries next spring if I don't sell my current boat this fall. I'm getting 6 hours out of my two group 29's on a windy day (24v 80lb Terrova) and that's about all they've got. I'm going to explore Trojan and other brands with a group 31 footprint.

The major cold front that rolled trough last week has some fish moving to a more fall-like pattern which should bode well for most everyone. I pulled cranks both days and ended up with 17 yesterday and 9 this morning before lunch with my wife. Chatted with a couple guys in the same bay catching huge numbers longlining but they were tossing a lot of short fish back. Channel cats were schooling and twisted up my spread both days, folks at work will be happy with those fillets.

For the first time in a decade I got mono between the spool and the right side plate of one of my Okuma Magda reels that I couldn't get out quickly. I attempted to make a video of disassembly and cleaning of it but couldn't edit the file. I took several photos and will post them on the main forum later. Fall is here so get out on the water, be mindful of the hazards of winter pool and catch some crappie.

On days like Saturday, the Trojan 1275s are worth the price and then some.

I sure do hate to be off the lake for a few days with it being as good as it has been the last week.
