everyone's hollering about it being a once in a lifetime thing. REALLY ?? I saw one in '79 I saw the one Monday, and if I don't die before 7 years pass I'll see one in '24. I guess I'll have lived 3 lifetimes![]()

I think the hype was all about this one being a total eclipse & going across the entire country (West to East coasts).
You won't have to wait 7yrs either ... according to NASA : "After the August 2017 total solar eclipse, the next annular solar eclipse that can be seen in the continental United States will be on October 14, 2023 which will be visible from Northern California to Florida. Following this, we will have a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 visible from Texas to Maine." (copied from NASA webpage)
But, you'll still have to travel a ways to see the "totality" ... in either case.

you mean that's NOT all the way across the continental U.S. also I'd have to travel somewhere to see the TOTALITY wherever it is. If it was here I'd travel somewhere else to get away from that mad crowd like they had in Hop town. Can you imagine trying to leave there?![]()

Yes, the 2023 eclipse will be visible across the continental USA ... but, it's an "annular" eclipse, not a "total" eclipse.
I can imagine it being like 5PM traffic on all major highways, parkways, Interstate highways, and backroads... if everyone tried to leave at the same time (which is exactly what happened in the Hoptown area
)
