    Default Question about Green River

All the times I've fish the Spring Fling. I have never caught a walleye. I know the lake has them and I do all my fishing from Holmes Bend up to Casey Creek. We have had our Fling different times but like I said never have caught one. Has anyone else caught any why crappie fishing.

    Default Question about Green River

They're present in good numbers and caught several a year when I lived close by fished Green weekly. Walleye fishermen on Green and Nikon are like research fishermen on KY and Barkley, the ones who are good at it don't say much.

I will say that a variety of walleye crankbaits trolled between 2.0-3.5mph as well as bottom bouncing or lindy rigging a crawler harness will put fish in the boat if you stick to it. If you're serious about them, do some reading on what the walleye guys are doing up north and on Bull Shoals-you'll pick up key info on the areas that river-run walleye will likely hold at various times of the year.

This was my last eye on GRL.

I think they are easier to catch when the shad are on the flats. I caught them one spring bass fishing on the banks. I don't know really how to catch them in early spring other than just lucking into them.

I don't guess this helped much. I'd like to see you get into them though. There are some real good ones in green. In my opinion they are the best eating fish there is.

A lot of times when you are going over a channel break, you will mark fish on the bottom. Try jigging a gold spoon on them, even if they are catfish they will clobber the spoon if they are in a feeding mood. Even if they are not and you bounce that spoon off of their nose they will react. Sometimes if they are walleye you can catch two or three before they move away.

Caught some keeper "eyes" from Green a long time ago ... casting a chartreuse marabou Roadrunner down a pea gravel bank. But, that was up around the island ... well, actually on a bank across from the island. That would have been sometime in mid to late April, since that's when we used to always go to Green for Crappie. Only happened that one time, though.

We caught one nice walleye last summer while trolling Bandit crankbaits for crappie. It happened when we went over a flat and the crankbait was bouncing bottom.

I have caught a walleye on green since my bass fishing days. Back then I caught them pretty often by accident. I was thinking the numbers might be down but it most likely the technique
