Thread: Spider Rig Hellp -I wish to learn how

I wanted to learn how to spider rig a few years back and I used David Jones (kentucky teacher) crappie guide on Green River Lake and wouldn't take double my money back for what I learned. Every one has their on version of rigging and I like Davids better than any that I have seen and I have looked at many.

Spider rigging is a great way to fish. If it was possible would go with someone that is good at and does the spider rigging. They could teach you so much in a trip or two. That saying would get a good set of rod holders. There is lot of good ones out there. It helps to have a good electronics. It is a big plus if you own an electric trolling motor that is run with a remote. Would go with 14' to 16' rods there several good ones out there. I like the Southern rods and used the 16 footers. Later if you have somebody to fish with you,I like the double seats where you and partner can fish beside each other. I forgot to mention the reels to me these not as important as the rods just about any reels will do. Starting off is a expensive but to me it was worth it. Good luck.

I would suggest going with someone that has spider rigged for a while, weather it be a guide or other person. Also I would buy good equipment the first time. I bought 10 and 11 foot rods because I wasn't sure if I would like rigging or not, now I wish I had longer rods.

As said before try to go with a few different guys and see how they do it. For me the most important thing is boat control. You can find them and have all the right rods and baits but with out boat control you will have a hard time catching them. It can be very challenging at times and it is not for everyone.
