Well, the name hunt came to an end this weekend. My wife and I settled on naming our pup Josie. We couldn't agree on a fishing related name so we went for something country sounding.

We took her to the vet on Fri to start her vaccinations and encountered a pretty big setback after our Vet did her exam. It's gonna require surgery this week on little Josie so we are hoping everything goes well. She's still gonna be a great hunting dog but it might take her out of the breeding ranks, which is a major hit to my plans for her.

Potty training is goin well. She goes to the front door and whines wanting outside to do her business. She'll be 9 weeks old this Tues. The chewing, on the other hand, is a little out of control. 😁

I sold a litter of Black Lab pups back this summer, one of the buyers wanted to train his pup to find sheds and to track deer. He says it's going well and sent me this picture the other day. Pup is 5 months old and tracked its first deer, and had fun doing so. It's amazing what you can train dogs to do.

Thought I would post an update on Josie. She's now 4 months old and doin great. Just took her on a 2 mile fencerow walk and I think both of us are ready for warmer weather already. Can't wait to take her out on the boat when she calms down a little!

Here's a couple more pics from today. She'll be six weeks tomorrow and she will come to you when u whistle and run right thru the thickest cover we have on our place. I can't wait to start training her. Right now it's all about potty training and building strength tho.

It's funny that you mentioned Reba. It's on our final list of names.

    Kota is pretty good too.

Keep them coming. Thanks a lot for the comments guys.

Reba, the best dog I've ever owned was an Australian cattle dog with the name.
