Just read where the robotics company, IROBOT, makers of the Roomba vaccuum, have made the prototype of a robot that will be used to eradicate the dreaded Lionfish from the Atlantic Ocean. Lionfish, as you may be aware, are an aquarium species of fish that has been introduced into the Atlantic and is now proliferating at unbelievable proportions and threatening much of the sea life in a vast region.
The robot, which is remotely controlled from someone on the surface, will seek out and hunt down the lionfish, zapping them with a deadly shot of electric current and then gathering them in a basket to be delivered to the surface. I know it sounds crazy, but who knows....perhaps the same kind of technology may be used against the dreaded Asian Carp? (Plans are to begin using the robot in November.)
Here's another way to get rid of them...Invasive Asian carp leaps onto restaurant tables
