    Default Green River Lake Conditions?

Anyone have an update? Thinking of giving it a try tomorrow. I have never been there before. Hoping to pull on a few. Thanks!

According to the COE charts for today:

lake is 2.8ft above Summer Pool
fell 6inches in the last 24hrs
    is being pulled at 3000cfs

Last report from local anglers was that the main portion of the lake was clear, but the incoming water of Green River and Casey Creek was dirty. With them pulling the lake at nearly 10x's the rate they were pulling it, I would assume that the dirty water would be well past the Hwy551 bridge.

Crankbait bite has not developed ... as it should for this time of year. Most recent fish reports that I'm hearing are ... casting to brush piles in the 12-15ft depths is what is working.

If you have Side Imaging capabilities ... you may be able to find some brush to fish. If not, you may want to check out this site : https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...7_sN5z1tIxu1Ws ... then zoom in on the area of the lake around the State Park & Goat Island and consider fishing around the brush reefs that have been put out by the KDFWR. (most of them were placed in ~15ft of water) Click on the little colored square at the bottom left of the screen on this site, to put the satellite imaging to use. It will make much more sense than the flat "map" image.

If you intend to pull cranks or jigs, or intend to fish around the Holmes Bend end of the lake .... I would look for a concentration of boats and join in (but give them as much space as possible, so as to not interfere with their movement or cross their lines with yours).

I'm not guaranteeing you'll catch fish from this info, it's just what I would do under the circumstances.

Thanks CP! I actually have all the KDFW brushpiles loaded on my unit! I plan on putting in at the State Park and fishing the lower part of the lake. I'm set up to spider rig. I hope to run into a few!

In that case, I would definitely work my way in & around those brush piles between the island & Emerald Isle Marina. With the lake up nearly 3ft over Summer Pool .... going through the cut-through gap (directly across from the campground) will be easy, and keep you from having to run completely around the island to get there from the State Park ramp.

I was gonna look at the COE site and see if they had updated the water temp depths & DO concentration depths ... but, that page is currently unavailable, so they may be updating it.

You might check it later on tonight & see : 404 - File or directory not found.

... luck2ya !! And give us a report on how you do, please !!

Ending up having a pretty good day for mid July. Put in at the state park around 7am and caught fish all day until I ran out of minnows around 2:30 PM. Caught around 50 but only kept 12. Had to cull through a lot of small fish to come up with the 12 I kept. Spider rigging jigs (pink & white) tipped with minnows caught all the crappie today. 12 foot around brush was the key for me. Had a great time!

That is certainly good to know! CP - Where are the best places to get minnows at Green River on the Lower (State Park Area) Lake and around the Holmes Bend area? Thanks in advance.

I only know of a couple places :

    Holmes Bend area ...

Patterson's Bait/Grocery 5855 Elkhorn Rd 270-465-3804 (corner of Knifley Rd & Elkhorn Rd)

Green River Bait/Tackle 5240 Knifley Rd 270-384-5206 (corner of Knifley Rd & West Egypt Rd)

(and they do sell minnows at Holmes Bend Marina)

    State Park area ...

Fastrack 8 (gas station) 3653 New Columbia Rd (correction ... station closed !! )

There's also a couple of places on the road (st hwy 1061) just before you turn into the state park road, that sell minnows .... The Resort RV Park and also at The Tackle Box.
(and they sell minnows at Emerald Isle Marina)
