OK - found it. I have only been a member here for a few years, but never saw anyone mention the Pond River - HOWEVER - it is a tributary off the Green and lots of folk fish it for crappie (and other fish).

Slow moving and muddy most of the time. Cats, white crappie down in the lower part, choupique, carp, sunfish, largemouth.

It is a big ditch in a good portion of it due to channelizing it.

Kinda what I thought after looking it up on Google Maps. Might be a better idea to go to the Green River itself ... if it's within a reasonable drive time from his location.

Pond River is a 90mi long squirrely run of water that empties into the Green River near Ashbyburg, Ky. It serves as the county border between McLean & Hopkins and Hopkins & Muhlenberg counties, in that area.

Well I learned two things today from this forum 1) the location of the Pond River and 2) what a choupique is (I had to look it up).

.... ah, yes, the infamous "shoe pick" fish ... aka the "Bowfin" or "Grinnel".
