Four friends and i had made plans for some time to fish Jonathan and as always, it did not let us down. During the boat ride out to some deep water humps I'd planed to fish, I overheard that this was going to be a 15 year old's very first time fishing. A smile warmed my face, even with the cold wind that was blowing. We got to a spot where 3 humps come together and I dropped a double minnow rig to the bottom raised it once, THUMP....I handed the rod to my new young friend told him to show me his skill of reeling, he sure did. The only thing that stopped him from reeling further was the top hook hit the last eye of the rod, with a 12" crappie flapping in the breeze. I almost fell out of the boat laughing. I told him to only reel up till he could swing the fish in but it his excitement wouldn't allow it to happen. The topper was when he reeled in another dandy while his dad tried netting it, with a rod that was too long and a net handle that was too short. Even the boats around us enjoyed that. Our two day trip was more than successful with all the laughs we had. We did manage one just over 15" that didn't get weighed due to dead batteries. Best fishing: deep water with minnows just off the humps. Best place to stay: Fin N Feather. Best place to eat: Kayla's next to Bass N Gas. Best way to enjoy Jonathan: With friends that can make you laugh.Name: IMG_0125.JPG
