Thread: New and highly regarded study

Today I got out and set to finishing my third crappie condo and had just read an in-depth study of the elusive but highly sought after nine finned. three pound, "Black Crappie". Now before you nay-sayers take one look at the picture and say, Hey ya big dummy, ya missed some boards on that second run, please read on and find out for yourself just why they are missing.

It seems our government officials have sought out the very best Ky State Biologists, the finest archietectural engineers, along with some of crappie.com's elite, to study just which beds would attract and keep the biggest and best crappie. After years of studies, months of grueling days by the engineers, and countless hours on the water by our members, the study has shown that irregularity in the spacing and length of the boards is the key that draws them to the crappie magnet.

I had ya goin there for a minute didn't I? I just ran outta boards.

it's perfect....you'd drop that in one of my fishin' holes and I'd find it ...I would be all over that. I say irregular is better

Is turkey season still in? You got me hook. line and stinker! I saw a study not long ago that said cedar trees was the best. I don't think so. The Dean beds are the best ,especially the ones I find. LOL

Nice, but how Ya gonna move it? I made 5 bamboo pots with 7 gal nursery pots filled with wet concrete mix back in March, they must weight about 50# a piece, long story short.....there still sitting in the driveway!

I strap this down across the width, midway back in my aluminum Panfish Pro to transport it to the lake. Once at the ramp, I slide it a bit to the side and use duct tape and tape weights to boards that aren't shown in the photo that run the length of the bed on both sides. Once I've made it to the drop site, and locate the channel edge with my locator, I throw out a buoy, move down about ten yards, throw out a second buoy. Go upwind and let the wind blow me between the buoys and launch the bed. Once settled, I go back over the bed and mark the waypoint.

As for your bamboo pots Tom, is it possible you may have a lot more weight than needed to sink them? When I started I was using a lot more weight than needed and they'd go down like an anchor. You may want to do a little trial and error to see what it takes to sink your bamboo pots.
