Anyone tried this method? Interesting video. Notice the direction of boat travel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYHpbrZYac8

In a previous life I trolled a lot with my Skeeter Starfire but dragged 1-2 5 gallon buckets. I never thought about the turbulence making any difference, I just needed something to slow the boat down.

It looks like they are running in reverse and have the socks out also to slow the troll speed down. I usually hang the sock(s) out the back to slow me down, then use the trolling motor to guide the path I'm on. I had one guy tell me if the boat is bouncing to much to put the socks on the front, they will help old the boat down and take some of the bounce out. Haven't tried it yet but will one day I'm sure I will.
Have a great day

I seen that video before. He wears em out for sure. I use a small one on each side,to keep the cranks out of them.

Never gave it much thought, but this may be the key to those days that the guy in the back seems to catch more fish while spider riggin. The transom does produce some turbulence.
Everything is possible. The impossible just takes longer!
