Thread: My first

Brad and I had planned a night time crappie run on Barren and we'd gotten there early enough to pull crank baits for about an hour. You see I myself had several failed trips in the past attempting this, each trip for 3-4 hours. I'd read of it, seen pictures and was beaten soundly by Chaunc and Doug several years back in a tournament. I was beginning to think that catching crappie on crank baits was a myth like the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. Folks I'm here to announce that there is a Santa Claus. Thanks Brad !

Way to go Russ!! 1st of a whole bunch I hope.

BTW, that was Chaunc and BrushpileOdem who won the tournament. I was just along for the ride.

Just like you Doug to take a back seat. Just to let us know, lots of bumps and Brad and I each landed a keeper in that hour we fished.

If you aren't overrun by the lake lice Barren has some good spots to troll cranks. My old boat was set up for it and I did pretty fair with it. My boat now isn't set up for it at all so it has been a few years.

Did yall do any good on them after the sun went down? We seen lots of small fry jumping and schooling in the flooded stuff after the lake settled sunday afternoon.

We fished under the 31E bridge and came up with several more keepers. Not a banner night but enough for meal. Lotta dinks.

Enjoyed it Russ, we'll have to get after them again soon! Love seeing those slabs ski to the top of the water!!
