curhunter, it's been a couple of weeks`ago now, my son and I went and fished the main channel between Peter's Creek and Hurrican creek. We caught several good fish. Brought 30 home with us. I had one that went 1lb 10oz.

I drove by the lake today, it looked really muddy and with the rainy forecast will probably only get worse. I'm going to try again middle of next week. Good luck to you.

The water was beginning to clear up up in the creeks...I say WAS...

We fished beaver / skaggs today and didn't catch but 4 keepers. I thought today would be better with the cloud cover and all....but it was tough....

I guess I will be catfishing after this rain. (that isn't a bad thing)

Thanks for the report, I thought all day at work how good it would be to be on the lake today. Have you found the fish to be in any paticular depth. The fish we caught were all between 12 and 15'

We were catching them in 6-7 ft of water fishing 3-4 ft. deep.

I went catfishing today on Barren.. I used nightcrawlers and stink bait and didn't catch a fish. I wish I had taken some minners.....

Was a bad day I HATE getting SKUNKED!!

I may try and do it again tomorrow but if I do I will switch back to crappie!

We tried it saturday.....the lake was really muddy. Only caught two fish. One was a pretty good one, but just couldn't figure em ought. Saw some guys fishing close by and took out at the same time. They had a nice livewell full of catfish averaging I'm guessing between 3 and 5 lbs. Gonna be a while since it's right with all the rain forcasted for this weekend. I may have to make a trip to Malone.

kycurhunter, I was talking just yesterday with a guy with the KDFWR who does creel surveys and shocking for fish. He said that the Crappie population for Barren was down. They had trouble even getting their quota during a netting survey. So far, I'd have to say that I've not noticed any difference from my fishing last year. He said that they had not had good spawns the last several years. I don't know bout any of that. I did year from a couple of different people that someone recently caught one over 2 1/2 lbs from the lake and the fish that I've caught so far have seemed to be thicker.
