The crappie are biting well in the Big Sandy area near Paris, TN. I know of a number of limits that have been caught in the last few days by folks trolling and long-lining, particularly in the New Hope and Country Junction areas of Big Sandy.

We have had a tremendous amount of water going through the dams for over a month and I think the crappie are offshore feeding. There hasn't been hardly any shad in the bays most of the winter and early spring. It has been like this for a while now. Some of the worst crappie fishing I have seen except for a very few good days. We keep thinking it is going to get better but I don't know. They will come in eventually like last year for a couple of weeks and then it's over. Going to have to change tactics me thinks. I have been out looking on the main lake and finding a few fish on the drops but they are hard to find. There is a lot of water in these lakes and that means a lot of looking. Just have to enjoy our time being out and take some moon pies and RC colas and watch the wildlife. I have been seeing some funny stuff lately. Those loons are crazy with all their shenanigans flipping around in the water. Saw an otter out on the main lake. Lots of new eaglets this year also.

I have hope!!! Sounds like we are gonna need it!!! I can enjoy a day out on the lake without a fishing pole......but I would love to catch one 16.5 or better!!!! Maybe the luck will take a turn for us. I hope!

Thanks for the replies, not what i was wanting to hear though and i'm sure this cold snap isnt going to help. This might be my only chance to make the trip this spring , so what to do , what to do.
OH well, a bad day fishing is better than another day at work.

I'm not sure about the north but I can tell you there are people catching fish in the Blood River area. This weekend may be a different story but last week I heard reports of several big catches down there.

I guess by the some of the post that the bite has changed a lot since last weekend. I thought the bite was decent both Saturday and Sunday afternoon(not on fire by any means).
I can't speak for the seine riggers or long liners but between myself and some of my buddies we found fish casting and vertical jigging in depths anywhere from 7-26 FOW last weekend.

I hope the fish will turn on. Be heading down March 30th, staying until the 3th. Also be staying at Jonathan Creek. My first time being there and being excited is a understatement. I will be in a red Ranger boat spider rigging,if u see me come over say hello and we can swapped notes.

Jonathan still muddy and got over 1 1/2 inches of rain last night and today.

Fished from last Saturday till yesterday tough would be an understatement. I stayed at Ken lake and fished Jonathan Sugar and Blood Rv. Fished pretty much from date to dark every day.

While did I manage to catch some fish I had to cover ALOT of water. Early on i could only get bit between 18-22 ft deep. Tuesday i found some as shallow as 6-8 ft deep. No matter where I found them bites where few and far between.

On the plus side I did get to me a fellow crappie.com member CAllen we spent a couple mornings cruising side by side trying to figure things out.
