Default First time out this year - Where to start, What to try?

I'm heading to Nolin tomorrow and plan on fishing Saturday/Sunday. The lake is about 11' over summer pool and looks to be stable right now. They will start to drop it soon but not sure exactly when. I'm not sure what the water temp is but guessing in the mid-40s. I was down there last weekend and the water is up in the trees on the banks pretty far - we caught 2 throwing from the bank into about 3' of water. I read Whisker's post on what to do at KY lake and I plan on looking shallow first and jigging around the trees. I plan on using dark road runners, maybe tipped with minnows - guessing the water will be muddy. Besides skipping Nolin and heading to KYLake, anybody have any advice on what else to try or what to look for? How deep to fish, etc? Really appreciate all the advice I read on here and not asking for any spots, just generally what to look for and what to try.

    Thanks very much,

    Bob

Fished pretty hard today and only caught 4 keepers. Water temp was 49 when we started at about 7:30 this morning and up to 57 by the time we quit at 6:30. The ones we caught we in 10-12 fow about 3-5 down. Tried minnows and jigs. Did best on minnows. Only one on a jig and it was tipped with a minnow. Tough day but going again in the morning.
