Hey guys I am new to the site. I have fished my whole life but in 2012 bought a 17 ft. bass boat and have been crappie fishing at least once a week since then. I have wanted to take a trip to a well known crappie lake and looks like my dad and I do actually have some time this spring. Only downside is it is very early, Feb 2-March 1. Couple questions if you guys have time:

1. Would it be worth a trip this early? I understand they will probably still be deeper, but is there a good pre-spawn bite?

2. Lakes I am considering are Green River Lake (3 hours away ), Lake Barkley(4.5 hours), or possibly Kentucky Lake(5 hours). What are pros and cons to each?

3. My dad is going to be more a bobber and minnow type fisher than say a spider rigger, even though I am set up. So I have to take that in to account.

Thanks,
