Default When its HOT, nothing goes right

When I got up this morning I walked over and opened the door onto my back deck while the coffee was brewing. The sun hadn't come up yet and the air was already hot and heavy. As I sat out there drinking my coffee, I let my mind drift back to a time when the water temps where forty degrees less and the water level at Barren was at 528. I had a crappie hanging on the inside, setting a second, and my eye had caught a third rod with the line that was going in the wrong direction. What a wonderful mess. Then a bead of sweat rolled down my back. Today I would re-string all my rods with fluorescent line as I've convinced myself that its easier to see. At age 63 my hand eye coordination SUCKS at best. My partner told me I looked like I'd been trying to kill skeeters so I thought I'd give it a try and bought a big roll of Mr Crappie green line. I stored it in the garage for a day just like today so that all the rods would strung with the easy see line. Apparently its not all that easy to see as its a little after 3:00 and I still can't spot that spool. Its supposed to be hot for the next several days so wish me luck.

I've pulled them cranks. The crappie in Barren laughed at me. I've looked on the flats, the edge of creek channels and the only place I see them is on brush in 20 fow. just no luck here. I may have to make a trip and have you school me.

I think the problem may lie in that Barren is a Corp lake and when there is no rain the dam stays nearly closed and there is no current. The first sign of current is usually after the 15th of October when they begin draw down and that's when we see the first signs of the lake start to turn over.

just get your crank down to about 15 foot run,, 1.5 mph,,,and don't forget to add theway point.... When you get a few crappie in the same spot and circle right back and catch another one....
