    Default Kentucky River at Carrollton

I'm in N.KY, near Cincinnati. Grew up in Ohio and still fish there a lot but want to start venturing out in Kentucky for good crappie waters.

I've heard so many good things about Kentucky River and want to try it. The closest ramp access for me would be around Carrollton (I think) since I'd just shoot down I-71. But - I don't see any public access ramps on the Kentucky River in that area. Maybe I need to put in on the Ohio and enter the Kentucky River.

    Questions I have -
1.)How would I put in on that section of the Kentucky River?
2.)Is that a good section of river for crappie, or is there better in that vicinity?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    mbk

I know there's a ramp at the mouth of the Ky. river at Carrollton. But only saw it while checking out General Butler state park. Don't know anything about fishing in that area but I'd bet you could find some in that stretch leading up to lock no. 1. Check it out on Google maps.

Thanks. I think you're right about that ramp. I'll try to confirm. I may even want to try after lock no. 1 - I think that's the pool you drive over on I-71 and that looks like good fishing too. Thx.

There is a ramp at the mouth of the KY river, you actually launch into the Ohio. Ive never crappie fished there however it looked like it would be good. When you drive thru Carrolton just before you cross the KY river bridge turn right into the park area the ramp is in the park. If you cross that bridge you have went to far.

I don't know if this is going to help, but I went across the Kentucky River at Carrollton on 71 the other day and the color looked fantastic.
