    Default hooks on cranks


    does anyone change out the treble hooks on there crankbaits?red,diff. size hooks,brand,etc.

    I change out most of mine on the rear. I use the Red KVD hooks in #4. some say they are to big but don't thing I have missed a fish because of a to big hook.

    I've changed out most of mine and used red Matzuo sickle treble #4. The hooks can tangle together using 4s. Got to keep a eye on them. I have put #6 Eagle Claws on the front hook of some. Haven't found a good source for Matzuo #6.

    A lot of hooks come out of the box fairly dull. You might want to try your replacements out before buying a bunch. Some of them can cause your lure to run differently. (this may be more true for bass fishing than crappie)

    All crankbaits gets changed to #6 Mustad tripple grips. Never trust a factory hook
