the night bite is going strong. Find some brush in 30 to 40 feet an suspend your light over. When shad or minnows move in, fish about 18 to 20 feet deep.

caught 20 this am vertical jigging. 5 were 12 or 13 " rest were 10 and 11" They wanted it just hanging. If you cast you were skunked. It had to be still. You couldn't move it too slow! They were around live sycamores, The water is clear and the lure had to be out of human sight. The jig had to be a neutral color, not bright. I used microspoons ice fishing jigs. I think they were loafing, not spawning. (they were not busting with mushy roe). No hard pecks , the bite was touchy. Sometimes you saw your line go slack as they were pushing it up. Set the hook and you had him or her. Sometimes you tighten up and wonder was it a sycamore limb giving a bit or a bite? Set the hook and you could have a limb or a crappie. I love it when they're like this. This is why I had the "sensitive rod" discussion. If you're fishing Cumberland now you bettwer have one with enough backbone to pull it out of the bushes. And didn't catch any in over 15' of water. Hope this helps. fair weather

latest report main lake Waitsboro area and Burnside deep coves My fishing buddy and I caught 14 keepers between 7.30 and 12 am today. They were not in the submerged sycamores but on the cove bottom up to 25 feet deep and as shallow as 12 feet. We cast jigs and they would hit them falling and slowly moving. Vertical jigging wasn't vital today like it was last week. subtile colors and short jigs 1 1/2 " bass assasins and ice jigging microspoons.

The driftwood is dangerous watch carefully, wear your life jacket and drive slowly. Where is everybody? We were the only crappy fishermen out. Is anyone catching any walleye trolling?

    Hope this helps someone

    Thanks Fair Weather,

My wife and I fought the wind Sunday in Faubush. Only caught two. Both keepers. These were near the live Sycamores but not in them. We marked fish near the bottom but couldn't get them to bite. We fished neutral colors too,. Most tipped with a minnow. Most boats were pleasure boaters that day.

My fishing buddy and I caught 9 keepers this am. None less than 20', on jigs. But my friends that use minnows are wearing me out. They're catching 30 and I'm catching 8 or 10. What gives?

Shucks, 8 or 10 sounds good to me FW. I had one when I got home at noon today. Water's clear and 77 at the surface. Hard to fish it!
