Welcome to the board!
I was in the same shape fishing out of a Bass Boat, a stratos as well I have been round and round looking at boats and finally decided on the war eagle 2370 Blackhawk, room of a flat bottom but with a hull designed for big water, mine will be here the end of this month. I chose to go with the Merc 150 4 stroke after reading a lot of reviews and talking to several people. The one big issue I found with the Suzuki is that they seemed to lack power (ie, a 115 feels like 90 etc) I would spend some time researching your motor before you decide, also take a look at the War Eagle they make outstanding boats and will customize it however you like.
Alumacraft, Crestliner, Lund - all great boats! I left the bass boats behind years ago and have never looked back.

When I lived in Indiana I owned a Lund Explorer with 150 4 stroke yamaha, great boat, safe, comfortable etc. When I moved to Kentucky I decided that I would try out a modified v flat bottom Sea Arc as most everbody used a form of flat bottom down here. I hated the boat, although is was wide 95"beam, it would beat you to death on the water, in addition the gunnels wre short and I never felt comfortable. Last year I sold it and bought an Alumacraft 16'8" deep V with 75 4stoke yamaha. Love the boat. Looked at both Lund and Crestliner who are owned by the same company and liked the Alumacraft better, which is still a privatly held company. Deep gunnels, will power thru most any wave with comfort. For the life of me I can't understand why more folks in the south do not run deep v's, they will float within inches of what a flat john will. You will love your deep V.
Welcome to the site! I have alumacraft 145 it rides well just needs to be bigger. You will catch a lot of wind. Some times you will like that it catches wind other times not so much. Depends how your fishing that day. Got mine a couple years ago and I've put a ton of crappie in it.
