Weren't you one of the folks who recently posted that he couldn't catch crappie in Sept? 19 solid keepers in 3 hours ain't too bad! Only lost one of Brad's Bandits. Do you think he's sorry he sold off all his stuff?

I had a good time and hope it's not this long till the next time we can share the boat. I still wish I knew what it was that I had hooked for a couple of minutes. Whatever it was, it was BIG and FAST! At least I saved my custom psychedelic painted Bandit.

We were trolling in about 20 feet of water, along a steep ledge drop when something hit my custom pink/purple/black 300 Bandit on a 14 foot pole. I got the pole out of the holder and could tell it was BIG. I started reeling it and all of a sudden the line went slack. I thought I had broken off so I started reeling it up when we realized this fish was headed the same direction we were but twice as fast as the 1.8mph we were running. It actually passed us and headed south east up the ledge as we were headed south. All of a sudden it turned, headed back north down the ledge and started under all 4 of Dean's lines on the rear. Between the 2 of us, we managed to pass the rod, with fish attached and ripping line off the drag, under all 4 of his rods. I have no idea how many yards the fish pulled off until all of a sudden the hooks pulled loose. The last we saw of whatever it was (we never saw it), it was headed northwest while we continued south at 1.8mph. It felt like I had hooked a jet-ski.

Oh well, it was probably for the best anyway. My net man would have likely knocked it off with the net had I got it to the boat like he did a 5 pound green carp I had right to the transom.

We had a good time for a couple of old, overweight crappie fishermen on a Sunday afternoon on Ky Lake.

Dux ... I'm thinking you either got hit by a huge Drum, Gar, or possibly snagged a large Bighead or Silver Carp. In any case, you probably wouldn't have wanted it .... and at least you did get your Bandit back !!

You are more than likely correct, CP. We had it figured to be an Asian carp by its speed. It was fun while it lasted and I will say those cheap Okuma line-counter reels actually have a pretty good drag system on them. I've hooked up and broke off a couple off other times in the same area on similar fish that were going to empty my reel spool. They took the Bandits with them.

BTW CP, I got the decals. Thanks!

Yea, I got tired of him coming by the shop and reminding me I had yet to take him trolling. Now I'm waiting on Wiskers to get off puppy patrol and go with me. You guys ever heard the excuse of having to babysit a litter of pups as a reason to not be on the lake? Me neither!

We are going to have to catch a day with some sunshine and get back out there, Buddy.
