    Default Ky. Dam Stupidity

I came across this at Ky. Dam a few days ago. The boat is 4 inches out of the water and just a trolling motor. They where 3 gates from the turbines and I couldn't hold for very long to get the pic. I was scared for them. Not even a life jacket. Name: Stupid.jpg

Now that's what I call stupid is stupid. This is what causes closures of areas when people do not use the proper size boat or safety equipment and they drown. What if another gate was opened, they would not have time to get away with a trolling motor.

We fought tooth and nail with the Corps of Engineers to keep the areas below the dams open then mental midgets like these two come along and.......!

I would classify these two as Darwin Award candidates. The really sad thing is this; when their stupid butts end up in the river, people with good sense will be the ones who are called upon to save them or fish their bodies out.

I'm not in favor of always ratting people out. But there are times we are going to have to. Like it has been said, there has been a lot of work and effort put in to keeping the right to fish below the dams and this would stop it. I guess we are going to have to start calling in the numbers on the boats and getting these people off the waters before something happens to them..
Take you kids fishing today!!! They will be grown (and married and have children of their on) tomorrow. Then you can take your GRANDKIDS!

Having never fished the area but kept up with the restrictions debate, I'm curious how long it takes after the whistle/horn blows before the gates start opening. Here in my area (Meldahl pool of the Ohio river) we can't even get close when fishing downstream of the dam. Buoys are set up & they will call you out on the loudspeaker if you get inside the restricted access area.
