16 yrs old and never been out in the boat!! My Grandpa would have had a fit if my Mom would have made that rule! Ha ha Glad ya got him out there and had a good trip. I am amazed that my nephew is so disgusted about having to touch blood and guts. I can't ever remember having a problem with getting my hands dirty.....I tell ya what these young'uns these days! Awesome whiskers. My two year old grand son was watching us prepare for KY lake. He looked at the map I was looking at so I explained it to him. He goes I want to fish KY lake too. I can't wait till I can take him too. I am hoping its not 14 more years. I did take him to Dads pond a few weeks ago0 hooked a nice bluegill and handed him the rod and he backed up the bank and pulled it out. So many kids grow up without being introduced to the outdoors. I got a buddy that never fished or hunted as a kid now he has a pack of beagels and does some deer hunting and fishing. That is an exception to the rule though if kids aren't intrduced to the outdoors they probably be interested later in life.

My cousin and I are taking my grandson to Rend lake here in Ill. Tomorrow for his first fishing trip in a boat. It will be his 9th birthday and going fishing was what he wanted to do to celebrate. The little guy loves to fish and will sit on the bank and fish for 5 to 6 hours at a time and still complain about going home. I really hope he gets to catch a bunch of big crappie instead of the little bluegill he is used to catching in the shall pond by his house. Hopefully it will be a good trip because the reports are that the crappie are moving in to the buck brush.
