If its an outboard after you pull out just trim it up and down a few times to keep the water from sitting in the thru prop exhaust

I just got my first boat and am dieing to go fishing. My question is with it still getting below freezing do you all winterize your boats every time you go out in the winter? I would hate to mess my motor up. Thanks for any info.

Ok thanks. I had a friend say to just crank it over a few times to get any water out and I would be fine. I just wanted another opinion. I guess I will be on the water this weekend. Thanks alot.
I also run it (a few seconds) out of the water with it all the way down so any - flushes all the water out.
Keep the batteries charged for longer life also - You can use a trickle charger or just use a standard charger (6 or 10 amp) once a month or so.
between trips, when boat is parked, keep motor down to keep water out of the exhaust port in the prop hub.
smiles are contagious, spread them around
