Watergate .... my taste don't run quite that expensive ... but, if I was looking for a 7' fast tip rod for jig casting, I'd be looking at the 7' ESP PowerLite. Grizzly Jig carries them for $65/ea ... but are currently out of stock. Now, whether that's due to popularity or supply problems ...

Norsemen Outdoors carries them, and should have them in stock ... Power Lite rods | Shop | ESP™ High Performance Ultra Light Rods by Norsemen Outdoors .... & they run $75 from there.

They're not good for slip float use, because they have micro guides/tip ... and most bobber stops won't go thru very easily. But, for simple casting methods, they're a good rod IMHO.

I just purchased a 7'6 Gloomis Trout Series Rod for throwing 1/32-1/8 jigs. I've only been able fish it twice since I got but it seems perfect for casting those 1/32 & 1/16 jigs and is super sensitive.

Agreed. The Trout Series is very nice. I have the TSR 790S-1. It's 6'7" and is rated for 1-4# line. It's SWEET.

I would also check out the St. Croix Avids.

I have a 7ft. GL3 Med fast action it's a really nice rod, but I don't even have it in the boat. I use 2 St. Croix premier 7ft. ML for casting 1/8 to 1/16 oz jigs. I think the St. Croix is just as sensitive for half the money. I recommend going somewhere and try both.

Look at the St Croix Avid series. I have the 6'6", 1 piece lite action, fast tip. Buy 3 get a Rage rod free. Lifetime warranty and made in the USA.

I also have an All Star Drop Shot rod but find the longer handle configuration awkward to cast.

I have a SR-781-1 IMX and a SR-781-2 IMX both are 6' 6", both are great rods but the -2 is a little stiff to me. Last summer I got a deal I couldn't pass up on a new TSR 801-2 GLX 6' 8" UL, I really like it so far. It'll throw a 1/16 oz jig into the next time zone and I only have one thing more sensitive than it is but I can't use it for fishing.

All I do is cast jigs 1/16 ounce to 1/32 ounce. Any 6 foot medium action rod will do and you can save the extra money for something else. Got a friend who has a G-Loomis 250 dollar plus rod and I catch as many as he does. My rods usually run from the 30 to 40 dollar range. Just sayin'

Until you've fished with a super sensitive rod a few days when they are barely inhaling a jig its hard to appreciate what a really good rod feels like. St.Croix makes some very nice rods, I have a UL avid and have a few I use to bass fish, they are very good sticks. There is a reason that G.Loomis is one of the few if not the only rod builder in U.S. that builds their own rod blanks here in the states. Two places where $ really count are shoes and fishing rods.
