That should be about the right time for them to be on the beds. I would get some bluegill bugs tip it with a waxworm and start fishing, you should be able to find them. Last year we caught some really big bluegill on Ky.

Hey everyone, I am new to this site so I'd like to say hi. I will be coming down to the Johnathon Creek area the first week of May to bluegill/redear fish. I haven't been down in about 8 yrs and that was for crappie. Any suggestions on where to fish and if this is normally a good time for the gills/crackers. I appreciate any help

Thank you Greenwing. Most of my fishing is done on lake michigan and erie so..what is a bluegill bug and do you fish them unser a bobber. Thanks for your advice. Trying to broaden my fishing from just the great lakes
It's a grub body with legs made of skirt material. I need to find a picture to post. Most local tackle stores will have them. I never fished them under a bobber. I use 1/16 oz. jighead and cast.
Thanks for the help. I actually googled it found quite a few. I actually have a guide for a day when I get down there but I just founded some addittional info for myself. Salmon and walleye fishing is awesome but I'm wanting to get more into panfish fishing as well. I appreciate your help
WILN .... you might want to check these videos out, for some tips : Redear and Bluegill on Lake Barkley - YouTube

And, while they WERE filmed on Barkley, I would have to believe that KY Lake would offer similar results.

Thanks pappy. How funny you mentioned those. I think I've watched every video for kentucky/barkley lakes. Thats why I asked greenwing about fishing these jigs under bobbers as I saw them using the mr.crappie bobbers. I do thank the both of you for your helpful info. I just wish it was may 5th and I was down there. Cant wait to retire someday and be down there full time
